Naproxen 500 mg was prescribed to me by the emergency room doctor for pain and inflammation after I dislocated my kneecap. My knee cap moved back into place as emergency staff were loading me onto a gurney. I took 500 mg twice daily and was given a 10-day supply. I used it in conjunction with an ice pack for my swelling knee.

Naproxen is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Naproxen is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by conditions such as arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, gout, or menstrual cramps.
