What type of drug is Xerava?

Xerava, is a novel fluorocycline antibiotic in the tetracycline class with a broad spectrum activity against multi-drug resistant pathogens.
Xerava (eravacycline), from Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals, has a structure similar to tigecycline (Tygacil), another tetracycline class antibacterial with a broad-spectrum of activity.
Xerava is approved for the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAI) in patients 18 years and older. In studies, Xerava achieved high cure rates in patients with Gram-negative pathogens, including resistant isolates.
